The Torchlight Parade held at the Bannimantap Grounds on Thursday night marked the end of the Dasara celebrations which began on September 22.The event takes place after the completion of the famed Vijayadashami procession every year, and was inaugurated by the Governor Thaawarchand Gehlot.It was a full house at the Bannimantap Grounds, which has a capacity of nearly 30,000 spectators, thanks to the popularity of the event in which police personnel, including trainees, carry torchlight units and display various formations through synchronised movements. The event featured about 300 police trainees holding lit-up torches on both their hands.There was a ceremonial parade by the mounted police, followed by a ‘Feu-de-joie’ or celebratory firing. The highlight of the event was the light and sound show, followed by cultural events which entailed a performance by an ensemble of drummers and dancers.The Karnataka Armed Reserve Police (KARP) Mounted Company, Mysuru City, displayed their skills in tent-pegging and show jumping. The horses of the mounted company trotted to the rhythmic music and received a round of applause from the spectators.It was followed by the Drone Show, where nearly 3,000 drones were used to make various formations, including the howdah-carrying elephant, Goddess Chamundeshwari, a leaping tiger, a peacock, etc., along with a presentation by the Chamundeshwari Electricity Supply Corporation.Chief Minister Siddaramaiah, Minister in charge of Mysuru district H.C.
