In a tragic accident near Tambaram on the Maduravoyal Bypass, a speeding car overturned after one of its tyres burst, killing a couple and leaving six others injured.The deceased were identified as Muniyandi, 79, and his wife Ganapathi Ammal, 68, residents of Korukkupet and natives of Aruppukottai.The couple, along with their family members, had set out early on Thursday to visit their ancestral deity’s temple in Aruppukottai.A total of eight persons were travelling in the car.While the vehicle was speeding on the road near Pulikkoradu in Tambaram, a tyre burst, and the driver lost control of the vehicle, causing the car to overturn.Muniyandi and his wife died on the spot due to grievous injuries.Six others, including the driver, sustained serious injuries, and were rushed to the Government District Headquarters Hospital in Tambaram.The bodies of the deceased were sent to the same hospital for post-mortem examination.Police have registered a case, and a probe is under way.
