Pope Leo XIV on Thursday urged global authorities and others not to "remain powerless" in the face of the plight of migrants and refugees.
"When facing difficulties of such magnitude," the risk of the "globalization of indifference" that Francis spoke of emerges, Leo told tparticipants at the conference "Refugees and Migrants in our Common Home.".
This can lead to the "globalization of impotence," "in which we risk becoming immobile, silent, and sad, thinking that nothing can be done in the face of innocent suffering.
"I therefore encourage you," he stated, "to propose concrete ways to promote gestures and policies of reconciliation, particularly in lands where deep wounds remain due to long-standing conflicts."
