Made with a retinol alternative, that one user says “does not freak my skin out!” it’s a lightweight, hardworking cream that offers tighenting and glow.
Bakuchiol is a plant-based extract that the Cleveland Clinic says “has properties similar to retinol, without causing issues to sensitive skin.”
This means you’re getting all the anti-aging, smoothing, glowy, non-pore clogging benefits of retinol, without increased sun sensitivity, and often without itching, redness and irritation that retinol can cause. Per the Cleveland Clinic, Bakuchiol “may be more suitable” than retinol for people with rosacea, eczema, or sensitive skin in general. “I have sensitive skin and I’m acne prone and this has not bothered me one bit,” one reviewer wrote. “I can’t use retinol...The hydration, feeling, gentle scent, are all great and my skin looks healthier and smooth in just a week,” said another.
