A British boyband star was arrested for 'assaulting a woman and child' when police visited his home after receiving an alarming 999 call.
The musician, who is a household name, was detained and taken in for questioning before being released on bail.
Officers decided there was insufficient evidence to refer the case to the Crown Prosecution Service (CPS).
Officers are said to have issued a 'Domestic Abuse Protection Notice' against the star, meaning they had reasonable grounds to suspect there had been abuse.
Protection notices were introduced this year, and allow police to impose temporary conditions on alleged abusers - such as ordering them to leave the victim's home.
