Former brain tumour patient rents flat, installs bunk beds, offers basic cooking facilities; works as medical escort to help sick, frail

A Good Samaritan in China has been showered with online praise for providing free shelter for the relatives of hospital patients after he saw them spending nights on hospital floors.

Zheng Gang, 39, from Jinan in eastern China’s Shandong province, was diagnosed with a brain tumour during a physical check-up in 2020.

He was admitted to the intensive care unit in the Qilu Hospital of Shandong University. He recovered after receiving treatment for 45 days.

Zheng said he noticed that the relatives of many patients were reduced to sleeping on the floor of the hospital during a subsequent visit.
