Scammers create fake social media account claiming to be James Allemby, sell VIP packages for Ultimate Tennis Series event in Hong Kong
Coleman Wong Chak-lam’s coach has issued a warning to the star’s fans, after internet scammers created a fake social media account selling VIP packages for this month’s Ultimate Tennis Series event in Hong Kong.
James Allemby posted the warning on his Instagram page after discovering people pretending to be him on the Wire app were charging up to US$10,000 for holiday experiences, including stays at five-star hotels, dinner with Wong and access to private practice sessions ahead of the two-day exhibition event at Kai Tak Arena.
As well as Wong, star players Nick Kyrgios and Alex de Minaur will take part in the eight-man tournament, which features quicker matches and different scoring.
