Critics are calling out President Donald Trump for posting a bizarre deepfake video insulting two key Democratic lawmakers who met with him in the White House on Monday in a failed last-minute attempt to avert a looming government shutdown. The doctored video shows House Minority Leader Hakeem Jeffries (D-N.Y.) wearing a sombrero and a cartoonish mustache as the “Mexican Hat Dance” plays while an AI-altered Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer (D-N.Y.) calls Democratic lawmakers “woke pieces of shit.”This comes after Trump and his allies spent much of the month claiming rhetoric from “the left” is fueling a rise in political violence. The video also promotes the racist “great replacement” conspiracy theory, which claims Democrats are bringing in undocumented immigrants to replace white voters. Jeffries fired back at the deepfake video with a very real image of Trump with his former friend, late convicted sex offender Jeffrey Epstein:“It’s a disgusting video,” Jeffries said in an MSNBC interview. “And we’re gonna continue to make clear: Bigotry will get you nowhere. We are fighting to protect the health care of the American people in the face of an unprecedented Republican assault.”Schumer also tore into Trump for posting the video. “If you think your shutdown is a joke, it just proves what we all know: You can’t negotiate. You can only throw tantrums,” he wrote on X. Trump’s critics on social media also slammed him for posting the video: Ladies and gentlemen… the President of the United States. Disgraceful. Let’s see how the spineless Republicans twist themselves into knots defending this bigoted nonsense. Lindsey, Mace, and the rest of the sycophants are probably already queued up. https://t.co/mt0asLyOGr— Jaime Harrison (@harrisonjaime) September 30, 2025MAGA cries foul over Dems labeling Trump a ‘fascist’ as violence-inciting rhetoric—yet they pump out AI memes like this Schumer mockery, fueling anti-immigrant rage. Textbook hypocrisy. This is straight authoritarian tactics: stoking lies to silence opposition and fire up the… https://t.co/KpIWjEQwCd— TheSteadyState (@steadystate2025) September 30, 2025While the AI is sloppy (probably intentionally, b/c if it was too professional it wouldn't be nearly as funny to the target audience) it clearly manipulates Schumer's voice to promote ant-immigrant propaganda as tactic to gain leverage in gov't shutdown talks. It's despicable https://t.co/HkQtxRmLsv— Tyson Slocum (@TysonSlocum) September 30, 2025I struggle the fathom that the current President of the United States is now posting this kind of material to social media regularly as if it’s normal. This is not normal. Trump has poisoned the USA, so much so that they’re now unrecognisable. The USA I grew up with is long dead https://t.co/jUuwoF0B98— Savage_Squeek 🇳🇿🤝🇺🇦👊🎗️ (@SavageSqueek) September 30, 2025It’s the most demented and racist thing he has ever said, done, or posted— Andrew Javier (@AndrewJav13r) September 30, 2025The President of our country delivered this message to the American people tonight. That’s not really great if you have children, grandchildren or any view for the future. https://t.co/a5TEERKITD— Kentucky High School Sports History (@KYHSHistory) September 30, 2025Close
