Nine migrant workers from Assam died and one person was injured when scaffolding came crashing down at a construction site in the Ennore Special Economic Zone thermal power project near Ponneri on Tuesday (September 30, 2025). The group of workers were building a concrete arch for the 1,320-MW Ennore SEZ thermal power stations when the accident took place, according to a senior official in the Avadi police commissioner’s office.
