The High Court of Karnataka on Tuesday disposed of a petition filed by IPS officer J. Arun Chakravarthy, who had challenged the Central Administrative Tribunal’s stay of a government order (GO) of September 12 promoting him to the cadre of Director-General of Police (DGP).

A vacation Division Bench comprising Justice Suraj Govindaraj and Justice Rajesh Rai K. passed the order after the advocate representing IPS officer Alok Kumar, who had questioned the GO, said that Mr. Kumar had no objection to Mr. Chakravarthy continuing as chairman and managing director of the Karnataka State Police Housing and Infrastructure Development Corporation but the issue of promotion granted to him ahead of Mr. Kumar will have to be decided by the tribunal.
