Yair Golan, leader of The Democrats party, took to X to respond to U.S. President Donald Trump's proposed cease-fire plan for Gaza, saying that it reflects an agreement "that had been on the table for over a year and should have been signed a long time ago."

Golan accused Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu of prolonging the war "for narrow political reasons," adding that he "must apologize for all the blood that has been shed and the suffering he caused."

"Netanyahu said 'yes' to an agreement that illustrates one simple truth – there is no alternative to a regional and international deal that includes a two-state solution and the strengthening of the Palestinian Authority instead of Hamas," Golan continued.

He concluded by saying that "If a democratic prime minister had signed the same agreement, Netanyahu would have leapt onto every stage, accusing him of being a 'leftist traitor.'"
