The Karur Police, on Monday (September 29, 2025), picked up Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam’s (TVK) Karur West district secretary V.P. Mathiyazhagan near the Karur–Dindigul border for inquiry in connection with the stampede at party president and actor Vijay’s rally that claimed 41 lives.He is named as the first accused in the First Information Report (dated September 27) registered by the Karur Town police.
