The Andhra Pradesh State Disaster Management Authority (APSDMA) has issued continued alerts as the Krishna and Godavari rivers remain swollen due to heavy inflows.At the Prakasam Barrage in Vijayawada, the inflow and outflow were recorded at 6,86,074 cusecs at 4:00 a.m., on Monday (September 29, 2025) with the barrage level standing at 16.4 feet. The second flood warning remains in force. Of the total flow, 6,139 cusecs were released into the Krishna Eastern Main Canal, 5,009 cusecs into the Krishna Western Main Canal, while 11,148 cusecs were discharged into other canals. Surplus water flow stood at 6,74,926 cusecs.Meanwhile, the Godavari river has also witnessed heavy flooding. At Bhadrachalam, the water level reached 44.4 feet, while at the Dowleswaram Barrage, inflows and outflows were measured at 9,80,447 cusecs. With receding levels, the first flood warning has been withdrawn.To strengthen relief measures, two NDRF teams and three SDRF teams have been deployed in vulnerable areas. Authorities have urged people living in low-lying areas along the Krishna and Godavari rivers to remain vigilant and avoid crossing overflowing streams, canals, or roads.“Residents in flood-prone areas must exercise caution as the situation remains critical,” said Prakhar Jain, Managing Director, APSDMA.
