Week 5 of the 2025 college football season was a treat for fans.With four different ranked matchups of teams ranked inside the top 25 of the Week 5 US LBM Coaches Poll, the stakes were high for teams early in the season, with many potential College Football Playoff implications.With six upsets and many other close calls, the Week 5 schedule did not disappoint.The biggest victor of the week is likely No. 5 Oregon, with its 30-24 double overtime victory on the road at No. 2 Penn State. The Ducks could swap spots with the Nittany Lions in the newest rankings. Elsewhere in the Big Ten, No. 23 Illinois knocked off No. 22 USC 34-32 on a field goal as time expired to erase an embarrassing loss to Indiana in Week 4.The SEC continued to cannibalize itself with No. 16 Alabama knocking off No. 3 Georgia 24-21 in Athens, Georgia, while No. 11 Ole Miss earned a 24-19 win over No. 4 LSU. The Rebels have a higher chance of a major jump in the polls, as they have zero losses to Alabama's one.This week's biggest-ranked loser could be No. 8 Florida State. The Seminoles fell 46-38 in double overtime to Virginia on the road on Friday, Sept. 26. Mike Norvell and FSU are 1-8 in their last nine ACC games in the previous two seasons.No. 9 Texas A&M (Auburn), No. 11 Indiana (Iowa), No. 15 Tennessee (Mississippi State), No. 17 Georgia Tech (Wake Forest) and No. 24 BYU (Colorado) all staved off major upset bids to unranked opponents.
