The entry fee for visitors and the toll on vehicles entering Brindavan Gardens at Krishnaraja Sagar (KRS) in Mandya district have been waived from September 26 till October 2.The waiver on entry fee and the toll on vehicles entering Brindavan Gardens announced by MLA for Srirangapatna Ramesh Bandisidde Gowda on September 25 coincides with the scheduled start of a five-day symbolic Cauvery Aarti programme from Friday till the conclusion of Dasara festival on October 2.The Brindavan Gardens has been specially illuminated for Dasara festivities, which attract a large number of tourists.Ladoos for visitorsA statement issued by the authorities said Deputy Chief Minister D.K. Shivakumar, who inaugurated the Cauvery Aarti programme at Brindavan Gardens on Friday evening, has made arrangements for the distribution of laddoos to visitors.The authorities are expecting more than 8,000 tourists from various parts of Karnataka and outside to watch the Cauvery Aarti, the statement said.Cauvery Aarti, which has been modelled on the lines of Ganga Aarti, will be held at the KRS for five days from September 26 to 30. As Cauvery river is considered to be the lifeline of the people in Karnataka as well as adjoining Tamil Nadu, the authorities expect the Cauvery Aarti programme, the first such programme in south India, to attract thousands of tourists from various parts of the State, and from Kerala and Tamil Nadu.
