A two-year-old boy has died after a 'choking incident' at the private village nursery he was attending.

Paramedics were called to the nursery in the grounds of Parbold Douglas C of E Academy in Lancashire on Friday and he was rushed to hospital.

But medics were tragically unable to save him and he was pronounced dead just hours later.

Police today said there were no suspicious circumstances and a file would be passed to the local coroner.

The nursery - praised by Ofsted inspectors for providing a 'nurturing, home-from-home environment' - caters for children aged between one and five.
