James Van Der Beek is backing out of a "Dawson's Creek" reunion amid his battle with cancer.
The actor, who played the eponymous Dawson for six seasons of the popular teen drama, announced in an Instagram post Sunday, Sept. 21, that he would not be in attendance for a charity event set to bring together the original cast for a table reading of the pilot's script. He cited stomach viruses as the reason for his cancellation.
"This is the evening I'd been looking forward to MOST since my angel Michelle Williams said she was putting it together, way back in January," Van Der Beek wrote in the post. Williams also starred in "Dawson's Creek."
"So you can imagine how gutted I was when two stomach viruses conspired to knock me out of commission and keep me grounded at the worst possible moment," he wrote.
