A portion of the roof at Panchayat Union Primary School in Singalanthapuram village in Thuraiyur block, Tiruchi, partially collapsed on Monday morning.

No injuries were reported, as the incident occurred before the arrival of students.

The school, which has classes 1 to 5 with a total of 34 students, functions from a two-classroom building constructed at a cost of ₹30.05 lakh. The building was inaugurated earlier this academic year.

According to sources, the collapse occurred when the headmaster opened the classroom in the morning, and cement debris fell onto the benches. No students were present at the time.

Block education officials inspected the damage, and temporary arrangements were made to accommodate students in a nearby building.
