The residents of Gundibail, Marathi Keri, Henni, Hire Henni, and Vadanbail villages of Sagar taluk on Saturday wrote to Chief Minister Siddaramaiah to cancel the proposed Sharavati Pumped Storage Project project, stating that it would affect their lives.

In the letter, they said that earlier they were displaced due to the construction of the Linganmakki Project and were moved to Talakalale village in the 1960s. After that, they were hit when the Talakalale reservoir was constructed, having been displaced for the second time.

“Once again, we are facing the problem of displacement. We have lost hopes of a bright future for our children. If the project was implemented, we will lose our lives,” they said.
