Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) State president Nainar Nagenthran on Sunday (September 21, 2025) said the party never interferes in other political parties’ internal matters.
Along with BJP national in-charge for Tamil Nadu Arvind Menon and vice-president K.P. Ramalingam, he met All India Anna Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (AIADMK) general secretary and former Chief Minister Edappadi K. Palaniswami at his residence at Nedunchalai Nagar in Salem. The meeting lasted for more than 30 minutes.
Later, speaking to the reporters, Mr. Nainar said the BJP has organised a two-week Sewa Pakhwada programme from September 17 to October 2 as part of Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s birthday celebrations. As part of this, a marathon was held in Salem on Sunday (September 21, 2025). “As the AIADMK general secretary was in Salem, as a courtesy call, we met him. It is a courtesy meeting, and politics was not discussed.”
Responding to a question on meeting the expelled AIADMK leaders O. Panneerselvam, T.T.V. Dhinakaran and V.K. Sasikala, Mr. Nainar said there are six more months for the elections. “I will talk about this when the time comes. There are no permanent enemies or friends in politics,” he said.
Replying to a question on former BJP president K. Annamalai’s comment to bring expelled AIADMK leaders into the National Democratic Alliance (NDA), Mr. Nainar said they (expelled leaders) had earlier claimed to campaign for Mr. Palaniswami to make him Chief Minister and now they are exiting the alliance against the same. “The BJP would never interfere in any party’s internal matter,” he said.
