An elderly British couple released by the Taliban after almost eight months in detention in Afghanistan have arrived back in the UK.
Peter Reynolds, 80, and his wife Barbie, 76, landed this afternoon at London Heathrow airport from Qatar, which played a major role in negotiating their release.
The couple smiled broadly as they walked through the arrivals, but did not talk to reporters.
The couple were reunited with their daughter, Sarah Entwistle, at the airport in Doha yesterday before the family flew back to the UK.
The family said in a statement on Friday that their release is a 'moment of intense joy'.
