The Manipal police have arrested two students from Tamil Nadu for allegedly peddling cannabis and seized 2.732 kg from the duo. They were studying business administration in Manipal.
The accused have been identified as C. Aryan Tadani and Aryan Changappa. In a statement, the police said a team, led by inspector Mahesh Prasad, raided a flat on the 17th floor of Royal Embassy apartment in Shivalli village of Udupi and arrested Tadani.
The team seized 2.105 kg of cannabis worth ₹60,000, an I-phone worth ₹75,000, a ‘Hookah’ instrument, and a digital weighing machine. Later, Tadani’s alleged accomplice Changappa was arrested from a house in Mangaluru. The police seized 627 gm of cannabis worth ₹20,000 and a two-wheeler from him.
The police said the two were into drug peddling and were also addicted to drugs. They were booked for offences under Section 8(c) and 20 (b)(II)(b) of Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances Act. The duo were produced before the jurisdictional magistrate and was remanded in judicial custody.
