PHOENIX — Coming off the most lopsided home playoff loss in franchise history, the defending champion New York Liberty are looking to keep their dreams of a repeat alive on Friday, Sept. 19, against the Phoenix Mercury.

The Liberty hadn't lost a playoff game at home since the 2021 WNBA Finals, but they ran into a Mercury buzzsaw in an 86-60 thrashing Wednesday at the Barclays Center in Brooklyn.

"We can't go out and play the same way we did and expect a different result," Liberty guard Sabrina Ionescu said. "We have to go out and make the adjustments and play like our season is on the line, because it is."

Here's everything you need to know about win-or-go-home Game 3:

The Mercury led by as many as 12 points in the second quarter, but the Liberty went on a 10-2 run in the closing minutes of the half to come within one point. Kahleah Cooper answered back with a 3-pointer to stretch Phoenix's lead back to four points at halftime, 45-41.
