The Rajasthan Cabinet on Friday (September 19, 2025) approved a proposal to establish the State’s first sports university in Jaipur and decided to simplify the family pension rules for parents and disabled children of deceased employees, besides revising the NRI quota fee structure in the medical colleges.
Rajasthan Chief Minister Bhajan Lal Sharma presided over the Cabinet meeting.
The Bill for the sports university, named after legendary Rajput ruler Maharana Pratap, will be presented in the next session of the State Assembly. Originally announced in the 2024-25 State Budget, the university will promote research on sports technology and performance analytics, and develop elite coaches and sports experts.
Deputy Chief Minister Prem Chand Bairwa said the Cabinet had approved amendments to the Rajasthan Civil Services (Pension) Rules, 1996, to give an enhanced family pension of up to 50% to the parents of deceased government employees and continue the benefit to disabled sons and daughters even after their marriage.
The changes would ensure a more “inclusive and compassionate” support to the families of government employees, Mr. Bairwa said. In another decision, the Cabinet rationalised fees for NRI quota seats in medical colleges functioning under the Rajasthan Medical Education Society. The NRI fees will be 2.5 times the management quota fees, amounting to ₹23.93 lakh per year starting from the 2025-26 academic session.
