A promising young cheerleader lost her life in a freak accident at a backyard party when a reveler threw gasoline on a bonfire as she walked past.
Madison Lewis, 17, was severely burned across her entire body when the horror unfolded at a party in Jack, Texas on December 16, 2023.
She was raced to hospital and placed in a medically-induced coma, and fought for her life for three weeks before tragically succumbing to her injuries.
This week, the man who threw the gasoline, 24-year-old Sebastian Lindsey, pleaded guilty to negligent homicide after he admitted to accidentally killing the Jacksboro High School cheerleader.
He entered an open plea, meaning he pleaded guilty without a plea agreement with prosecutors, and under Texas law he faces a maximum sentence of up to 10 years in prison and fines up to $10,000.
