Finance Minister K.N. Balagopal has sanctioned ₹25.57 crore for acquiring land to widen the Mundur-Puttekkara stretch of the Thrissur-Kuttippuram State Highway into a four-lane road, Xavier Chittilappilly, MLA, has said.

The 1.8-km narrow stretch has long been a traffic bottleneck and accident-prone zone. The project aims at expanding the road to four lanes.

₹11 lakh a cent

The sanctioned amount covers land cost, compensation for buildings and fruit-bearing trees, as well as rehabilitation and resettlement packages. Around 177 cents of land will be acquired, with the land value fixed at about ₹5.5 lakh a cent. Including 100% solatium, the total compensation will be about ₹11 lakh a cent, along with 12% interest calculated from April 2024 (when the 4(2) notification was issued) until payment.

A total of ₹3.4 crore has been earmarked as compensation for affected buildings, ₹20 lakh for trees, and ₹23 lakh for rehabilitation and resettlement.
