Widows and women, who have been abandoned, will soon be able to apply for a State government grant of ₹50,000 so that they can stand on their own feet.

The Telangana State Minorities Finance Corporation (TGSMFC), an agency of the Minorities Welfare Department, in the presence of Minister Adluri Laxman Kumar, virtually launched the scheme.

Speaking to The Hindu, TGSMFC Chairman Obeidullah Kotwal said that the Indira Amma Minorities Mahila Yojana Scheme offers ₹50,000 to each woman, which is 100% subsidised. The beneficiaries are widows, divorced women, or those who are single and poor, including those whose husbands have abandoned them.

The move is intended to make such beneficiaries financially independent. Applicants are required to submit their Aadhaar cards, food security or ration cards, case certificate, if applicable, or documents pertaining to their divorce or khula.

On the other hand, Revanth Anna Ka Sahara Miskeeon Ke Liye scheme, he said, would provide new mopeds and two-wheelers to members of the economically weaker sections of the Pasmanda Muslim community, including the Fukhra Jamath, Sanchara Muslim, and Kasha Muslim Jamath.
