Police receive report at around noon on Friday that a 1.3-metre-long suspected bomb had been found at a construction site on Pan Hoi Street

About 300 people have been evacuated after a suspected wartime bomb was found at a construction site in Hong Kong’s Quarry Bay, with nearby roads and MTR station exits also temporarily closed.

Police received a report at 12.07pm on Friday that a 1.3-metre-long (4.3 feet) suspected wartime bomb had been found at a construction site on Pan Hoi Street in Quarry Bay.

Some 300 people working in the street-level shops nearby, along with those working at the site, were told to evacuate.

The force said its explosive ordnance disposal bureau had been dispatched to handle the bomb.
