The State Government on Thursday approved enhancement of cost of the greenfield airport being developed in Vijayapura from ₹347.92 crore to ₹618.75 crore.“The cost of the greenfield airport under development has gone up since the original plan was to allow operation of ATR aircraft. Now, the plan is to enable landing of bigger aircraft. The Chief Secretary was asked to review the plan. The Cabinet has approved the proposal,” Law and Parliamentary Affairs Minister H.K. Patil told presspersons here during his post-Cabinet briefing.He said that the Cabinet had approved 10 towers of the harmonious call blocking system in Ballari, Vijayapura, Dharwad, Shivamogga, Belagavi, Mysuru, Kalaburgi and Tumakuru central prisons at a cost of ₹16.75 crore.The government is also making mid-career training programme mandatory for employees getting promoted on the lines of the training available for IAS and IPS officers. By bringing changes, the government is making it mandatory for those getting promoted to participate in training modules for at least 15 days physically and seek online training every year on courses they are directed to take by the departmental heads. “To ensure that training is taken seriously, the government is bringing Karnataka State Public Service (Mandatory training for promotion) Rules 2025,” Mr. Patil said.The Cabinet also approved 50 tonnes per day capacity bio CNG plants at the Agriculture Produce Marketing Committees (APMCs) at Dasanapura in Bengaluru, Kolar and Mysuru at a cost of ₹24.96 crore each.
