A mayor has been criticised for dressing in a Hawaiian shirt, shorts, trainers and no socks to a military parade.

Newly appointed Mayor of Henley-on-Thames Tom Buckley came under fire for his choice of outfit when he appeared at a parade of the Royal Marine, army and air cadets.

The councillor was photographed with the cadets at Henley town hall on Monday last week.

Local newspaper the Henley Standard reportedly received almost a dozen complaints about Buckley's attire.

One local user wrote on the paper's Facebook account: 'Lack of respect. These teens have worked hard.
