Congress leader Jairam Ramesh on Wednesday (September 17, 2025) refuted the Union Environment, Forest and Climate Change Ministry’s (MoEFCC)’s claim that the land of the Adani Group’s Dhirauli coal mining project in Madhya Pradesh’s Singrauli district was not in a protected area. Mr. Ramesh reiterated his allegations of last week that there had been “blatant irregularities” in the approval process for the project.

Taking to social media platform X, Mr. Ramesh, a former Union Environment Minister and the Congress’s general secretary (communications), termed the Union government’s rebuttal as “false”.
