Convicted triple killer Erin Patterson faces the prospect of spending more time behind bars if prosecutors launch an appeal against her 'lenient' sentence.

The Director of Public Prosecutions is reviewing the 33-year minimum sentence handed down to the mushroom murderer by Justice Christopher Beale last week.

Patterson, 50, pleaded not guilty to the murders of her in-laws Don and Gail Patterson, and Gail's sister, Heather Wilkinson.

The trio died after consuming death cap mushrooms served in beef Wellingtons at Patterson's Leongatha home on July 29, 2023.

Only Pastor Ian Wilkinson survived the ill-fated lunch, with Patterson also convicted of his attempted murder.
