Tyler Robinson's mother was filled with horror and dread after recognizing her son as the suspect in Charlie Kirk's murder at the University of Utah on September 10.

In a press conference on Tuesday, prosecutors noted she identified him on television the day after the shooting and immediately called him.

Robinson, 22, told her he had been home sick on the day of the killing. Concerned, she spoke with her husband, noting that over the past year their son had grown increasingly political, expressing pro-LGBTQ views and beginning to date his transitioning roommate.

Ultimately, Robinson’s parents persuaded him to speak with a retired deputy sheriff, a family friend, who convinced him to surrender.

Prosecutors filed capital murder charges against Robinson for the heinous murder of Charlie Kirk on Tuesday afternoon. Robinson is then scheduled to appear on camera for a virtual court hearing.
