Sept. 15 (UPI) -- Ford Motor Co. announced plans Monday to complete a new headquarters in Dearborn, Mich., and demolish its nearly 70-year-old home known as the Glass House.

The company said its new campus, the Henry Ford II World Center, will be twice as large as its current headquarters, allowing employees to "work more closely together than ever before."

Up to 4,000 people will be able to work from the new 2.1 million-square-foot headquarters once completed, with about 14,000 employees working within a 15-minute walk of the building.

In a news release, Ford said the new building will be "a catalyst for innovation and a physical symbol of our Ford+ transformation."

The campus is under construction and hundreds of employees are already working there, Ford said.
