Israel's National Security Minister Itamar Ben-Gvir, speaking at a ceremony for police officers, said that he is waiting for the IDF to "finish the mission, take over Gaza and encourage voluntary immigration." His call was met with a loud round of applause.

"I want to build a residential neighborhood for police officers in Gaza. The beach, by the way, is a perfect place. A perfect place in Gaza," he said.

Addressing Police Commissioner Danny Levy, Ben-Gvir promised that he would build a "magnificent police neighborhood there, with tall buildings like this one."

"Settlement brings security," he said, calling for a Jewish settlement in the Gaza Strip. "It's time to encourage immigration. It's time to pass a law imposing the death penalty on terrorists," he added.

At the ceremony, during which ranks were supposed to be handed out to police officers, Ben-Gvir responded to reported disagreements between himself and the police chief, assuring, "We are here together."
