Fury has broken out over plans for an 'eco-friendly' Traveller site in the Chilterns which will be a 'permanent base they can travel from'.

An acre of land in the parish of Swyncombe, Oxfordshire, near historic rowing town Henley-on-Thames, could become a long-term home for the nomadic community.

A retrospective planning application has been submitted to South Oxfordshire District Council, with a consultation period open until September 19.

It asks that a static caravan and a touring caravan move into the field near Digberry Farm, with space for parking and for horses to graze.

Other 'associated infrastructure' includes a septic tank, hardstanding ground, fences and a nearly 150kg metal storage box and charging point for e-bikes.
