It's Latin motto, Multum in Parvo, means 'much in little' or 'a great deal in a small place'.
And that is certainly the case when it comes to Rutland's school results. England's smallest county consistently punches well above its weight in the exam results tables – and not just because Rutland is home to a couple of the country's leading public schools.
Earlier this month, Rutland beat Surrey for the second year in succession to top the list of counties with the greatest number of high A-level grades.
A staggering 41 per cent of entries in the county were graded A or A*, compared to 28.3 per cent across all regions.
On GCSE results day last Thursday, the positions were reversed, with Rutland finishing second in the regional table as 31.1 per cent of pupils scored a grade 7 – equivalent to an A – or above.
