To simplify State highway toll
The central government has recently simplified toll charges for journeys through national highway roads. A one-time payment of ₹3,000 for a period of one year or 200 toll crossings, whichever is lower, has been successfully implemented. This system is welcomed by all private vehicle owners. But no such scheme is introduced in state highways and other district roads by the State. To pay the State highway tolls, one has to maintain a parallel Fastag account, thus confusing vehicle owners. I appeal to the Tamil Nadu Chief Minister to enforce a similar easily adaptable scheme for tolls functioning on State highways. A fair annual toll fee of ₹1000 with a ceiling of 200 toll crossings will be justifiable.
