Ugochukwi is booked for a poor tackle on Mac Allister. He won the ball and followed through into Mac Allister’s ankle; VAR are happy that a yellow card is sufficient punishment.
So far so good for Burnley, who have kept Liverpool at arm’s length, particularly in open play. Gakpo’s corner have caused one or two problems.
An excellent inswinging corner from Gakpo is headed over by Konate, only a couple of yards out. He got in front of the keeper but was unable to get over the ball; had he done so he would surely have scored.
Ekitike goes down in the area after a tangle of legs off the ball. It was completely accidental, and certainly not a dive, but the Burnley fans boo him regardless.
Wirtz’s corner from the left hits an unsighted defender and drops towards Kerkez, who is off balance and volleys over. A very tough chance.
