Saying goodbye is never easy, and this golden retriever made sure his feelings were heard loud and clear.

Wally, a 4-year-old golden retriever in Boston, was miserable as he bid goodbye to his grandma. Video footage of the pooch shows him looking visibly upset, with his eyes full of sadness, even when grandma gives him a forehead kiss. After much cajoling and love, Wally finally leans forward to receive a kiss from her.

Wally's owner, Julia Moriggi, told USA TODAY her dog, who she's had since he was an 8-week-old puppy, is "super emotional" and "acts this way whenever he leaves grandma, but also whenever he leaves people or fun places in general."

"This is typical Wally behavior so we weren’t surprised at all," Moriggi said. "He wears his heart on his sleeve and loves hard, so he gets super sad to leave his favorite people."

Moriggi added Wally is "a very emotional, empathetic dog" and "feels everything very deeply."
