Describing the Amaravati capital city as a ‘monetisation project’, Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu has said that more land is required for inviting more companies for the development of the region into a mega city and that the Land Pooling Scheme 2.0 is inevitable.
Addressing a conclave organised by Way2News and moderated by senior journalist Kandula Ramesh at Mangalagiri on Friday, Mr. Naidu said that around 29,000 farmers had trusted him, parting with 33,000 acres of land for the construction of the capital city under the LPS 1.0 in 2015.
It is a win-win situation for both farmers and the government. The government will generate revenue through land allocations to private companies and attract investments, while farmers will get more price for their lands, he said.
“The land pooled in the first phase is sufficient for the current needs. However, additional land is required for future expansion to develop Amaravati as an international city,” Mr. Naidu said.
He assured that no injustice would be done to farmers at any cost. “If we settle down to the present area of Amaravati, it will remain as a Municipality at best. To develop Amaravati as a mega city like Hyderabad, it must expand to Guntur, Tenali and Vijayawada along with the villages,” said Mr. Naidu.
