It began life among the spectacular landscape of Cumberland, perhaps in the shadow of a Lake District mountain or overlooking a picturesque village.
But this humble wheelie bin has mysteriously been washed up more than 350 miles away on the shores of a beach in Southend-on-Sea, Essex.
Not only is Southend on the other side of England to Cumberland, the black bin would have had to travel around 800 miles around the coast to reach the city.
The emergence of the bin has left Southend-on-Sea City Council leaders scratching their heads over how it travelled all the way to Essex.
They contacted their counterparts at Cumberland Council in a bid to understand what happened, but no explanation has yet been provided.
