NEW YORK — President Donald Trump emerged to a mix of cheers and boos at Yankee Stadium on Thursday night, as he attended the New York Yankees game against the Detroit Tigers in commemoration of the 24th anniversary of the Sept. 11 attacks.
Multiple chants of “U-S-A” took off before and after the first pitch, and Trump later received more rounds of cheers and boos, both when shown on the screen during the national anthem and again during a performance of “God Bless America” during the seventh-inning stretch. At one point, a smattering of fans sitting below the suite started a “Donald Trump” chant. Trump was seated behind newly installed panels of glass in Yankees president Randy Levine’s suite, with Levine and owner Hal Steinbrenner.
YES Network stayed with the action during a break in the middle of the second inning to show Trump’s introduction to the crowd. He was announced on the public address system while flanked by Levine and Steinbrenner.
