The Yamuna receded and fell below the ‘warning level’ in Delhi on Thursday after being in spate and flooding parts of the city last week. The river breached the ‘evacuation level’ on September 4, leading to the relocation of over 8,000 residents from the low-lying areas to makeshift relief camps.

The river was flowing at 204.5 metres, earlier in the day at main flood forecasting station of Old Railway Bridge. The water level came further down to 204.38 metres at 6 p.m.

The ‘warning level’ of the Yamuna is at 204.5 metres, while the danger and evacuation levels are at 205.33 metres and 206 metres respectively, as per the authorities.

Meanwhile, the Delhi government has been trying to drain water in Jharoda Kalan using around 30 pumps after the area was flooded following a breach in the Mungeshpur drain last week.

The government has also received some pumps from the Haryana government to drain the area.
