IIT Delhi has finalised 18 routes for the Delhi Electric Vehicle Interconnector (DEVi) buses in the Trans-Yamuna region, officials said on Thursday.
As part of the city-wide route rationalisation plan, Delhi has been divided into six transport zones. The South West zone will operate 32 routes with 382 DEVi buses; the South zone will have 32 routes with 307 buses; the North West zone 27 routes with 352 buses; the West zone 17 routes with 313 buses; and the Central North zone 19 routes with 168 buses. The Trans-Yamuna zone will see 219 buses operating across 18 routes
“Each planned route connects at least one or two metro stations and is not more than 12 km long,” an official said. Transport Minister Pankaj Singh, speaking to reporters, described route rationalisation as a key step toward making the Trans-Yamuna region more commuter-friendly. “Our focus is to provide reliable, affordable, and last-mile green mobility solutions to every citizen of Delhi,” he said. The Minister added that three depots have been identified to support the new network: East Vinod Nagar (11 routes), Shastri Park (4 routes), and Ghazipur (3 routes).
