London travellers and tourists are being warned to look out for a potential scam that sees fraudsters pose as ticket inspectors.
A video shared to TikTok in July, and recently recirculated elsewhere, showed a photograph of a man on what appeared to be a London bus in something that resembled a ticket inspector's uniform.
The dark-coloured apparel bore a shield-shaped badge and the words 'authorised officer' on a patch across the left side of the chest - while he held a mobile phone and a red notebook in his hand.
The picture was taken from a TikTok video the Mail has not been able to trace - but the user who posted it, @ajrsesay, says he had a similar encounter on a bus while travelling with his mother and claimed they were stealing up to £50 at a time.
Passengers are being warned to watch for people impersonating genuine Transport for London ticket inspectors like this.
