He pointed that there were as many as 7 lakh Indian workers in QatarHyderabad parliamentarian Asaduddin Owaisi made a case for India distancing itself from Israel and standing with Qatar, even as he pointed to the presence of lakhs of Indian workers there, and a soon-to-be finalised free trade agreementTaking to X, Mr. Owaisi, who is the All India Majlis-e-Ittehadul Muslimeen president, reminded Prime Minister Narendra Modi that the it was the Israeli government that had bombed Qatar. He said that this action had violated that country’s sovereignty. “Israel genocidal government [is] headed by @netanyahu is a danger to global peace & stability,” Mr. Owaisi posted.He further underscored that there were as many as 7 lakh Indian workers in Qatar. Touching upon bilateral trade between the two countries, Mr. Owaisi further stated that in 2024-25 India exported goods worth $1.68 billion to Qatar. On the other hand imports totalled $12.47 billion.“India must stand with @TamimBinHamad & distance itself from the global pariah state of Israel.This is an opportunity for India to demonstrate an unequivocal & principled stand.
