Two senior Tories sparked fresh speculation they could defect to Reform UK today after it was announced they will appear at an event with Nigel Farage's deputy.Suella Braverman, the ex-home secretary, and Lord Frost, Britain's former chief Brexit negotiator, are set to join a press conference on Thursday with Richard Tice.It comes after Nadine Dorries, the former culture secretary, became the latest ex-Tory minister to defect to Reform at the party's conference last week.But a spokesman for Mrs Braverman, the Conservative MP for Fareham and Waterlooville, knocked back suggestions she would also be joining Mr Farage's outfit.'Suella is not defecting,' they said, adding that Mrs Braverman was looking forward to releasing her policy paper on how to leave the European Convention on Human Rights (ECHR).Lord Frost, a Conservative peer, earlier said he was looking forward to joining Mrs Braverman and Mr Tice, Reform's deputy leader, at Thursday's event.He added the London press conference would 'help launch Suella's important paper on leaving the ECHR and its implications'.Mr Tice also posted on X/Twitter: 'Tomorrow at 10am I will be sharing a press conference with @DavidGHFrost and @SuellaBraverman. Don't miss it!'Mrs Braverman, MP for Fareham and Waterlooville, has previously not ruled out quitting the Conservatives for Reform.She told a Telegraph podcast last week: 'We can't ignore the polls. Reform is doing very well at the moment.'Her husband, Rael Braverman, was a member of Reform before quitting in July due to criticism of his wife over her immigration policies while at the Home Office. Reform leader Nigel Farage and Mr Tice have welcomed a string of Tory defectors to their party in recent months Lord Frost has also not ruled out running for Reform at a future general election.The Tory peer told the same Planet Normal podcast in May he was 'not emotionally committed' to the Tories.He said the Conservatives 'still haven't really clocked what the problem is' following their general election wipe-out last year.Asked about Mrs Braverman's planned attendance at Thursday's event, a spokesman for Tory leader Kemi Badenoch said: 'Suella is a backbencher, she is welcome to do events as are Labour backbenchers.'As Kemi has said, if we need to leave the ECHR we will, but we are going to do it as part of a fully considered plan, that is why she commissioned the eminent KC Lord Wolfson to look into this.'He will be publishing his report in a few weeks ahead of the party conference and then you will find out Kemi's position on the ECHR.'At Reform's conference in Birmingham at the weekend, Mr Farage said more former Tory ministers would be joining his party following the defection of Ms Dorries.The Reform leader admitted his party's 'biggest weakness' is that it lacks 'experience at government level'.But he said further defections to his party's ranks - similar to that of Ms Dorries' - would continue to boost Reform's preparedness for power.Ms Dorries, who served in Boris Johnson's government, joined Mr Farage on stage at Reform's conference on Friday after declaring 'the Tory party is dead'.She issued a rallying call for Conservative members to 'do the right thing' and copy her by switching to Reform.Adam Holloway, Sir Jake Berry, Andrea Jenkyns, Marco Longhi, Ross Thomson, David Jones and Lee Anderson are other ex–Conservative MPs who have joined Reform.Meanwhile, former Tory business secretary Sir Jacob Rees-Mogg has offered to advise Mr Farage and Reform if they win the next general election.But, despite making an appearance at Reform's conference this weekend, he insisted he would not be defecting - even though his teenage daughter Mary has joined the party.
