At The Hindu Made of Chennai archival photo exhibit that is under way at the Chennai office of The Hindu, K.N. Murali, retired Additional Superintendent of Police, Madras High Court, reminisced while looking at the photos on display, particularly one capturing the passing out parade at Police Training College in Ashok Nagar on October 30, 1980, in which he had taken part.“I read the newspaper regularly and about 20 days ago, in the archival photo column, I came across our passing out parade photograph. I immediately shared it with many of our batchmates and also visited the exhibition to relive the memory. It is so special to me,” said Mr. Murali.“We were 292 officers in the 1979-1980 batch, and our training was rigorous. After clearing that, our passing out parade was held, and the former DGP of Tamil Nadu, T.T.P. Abdullah, inspected us from the open jeep. The inspection lasted about 12 minutes. In the archival photograph, I can also see my batchmate Nataraja Moorthy, who was the parade commander. All of this still remains etched in my memory,” he added.
