Ahead of Rosh Hashanah, which begins in another two weeks, the chief rabbis have decided to give us a gift in the form of a milk shortage. It will begin on the holiday and will grow worse over the course of the High Holiday season. The cows are not to blame – they're producing lots of milk. The impending shortage is due to their imposition of an extreme form of kashrut laws, which will force dairy farmers to discard 6 million liters of milk and turn another 13 million liters into powdered milk instead of dairy products.
